Eco-Tours of Apalachicola River and Bay
The Apalachicola River Basin and Apalachicola Bay comprise the most ecologically diverse natural area in the southern United States. On an eco-tour with Captain Tommy Holland you will see several species of plants and animals many of which are rare, threatened or endangered and many of which are found only in this unique area.
Where the Apalachicola River enters the Gulf of Mexico it creates a rich array of wetlands varying in salinity. Over 200,000 acres of this diverse delta complex are included within the Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve.

Barrier Island Shelling
A shelling trip with Captain Tommy Holland is a wonderful way to explore and enjoy a remnant of Florida’s original natural landscape. The barrier islands of Cape St. George Island (also known as Little St. George Island) and St. Vincent Island are wonderful places to observe remoteness and wilderness qualities. Birds are very diverse and abundant during migration in the spring and fall. Most notable are the peregrine falcon and bald eagle. Threatened loggerhead sea turtles nest on the beach during the summer, as do oystercatchers and the endangered snowy plovers.
